Pastor Nureni Alabi is the author of Jesus Of The Holy Quran, The Second Coming Of Jesus By The Holy Quran And Hadith, and The Islam That Christians Must Know. Considering the very thin line of harmony that exists between Christianity and Islam, OSEYIZA OOGBODO BLOG met Alabi to find out from him why he’s writing books that have titles that can be considered provocative.

Why did you write your first book, Jesus Of The Holy Quran?

I never knew that it will eventually be published as a book. It was written as a thesis during my B.A (Theology) programme at West Africa Theological Seminary in 2004. However, when it became a source of material for reaching out to the Muslims who eventually realize that Jesus is not only a prophet but also the Messiah, Spirit from God (Sura), the Holy Spirit then told me to publish it for both Christians and Muslims in the year 2009.

How long did it take you to write each one of your three books so far?

Jesus Of The Holy Quran took me three years. The Second Coming Of Jesus By The Holy Quran And Hadith took 3 ½ years and The Islam That Christians Must Know took 11 months.

What have you achieved with them?

They’ve enabled Christians to build a cordial relationship with Muslims and understand them better.

What are your plans to make them known worldwide?

The Holy Spirit has given direction. Though the books may be sold, but it’s all about getting people who are passionate about them to publish them and give them out free to people and organizations that require them and are also prepared to support reproduction for distribution to the uttermost part of the world. And they’ve been presented to the public by the Bible Society of Nigeria’s support on Thursday 25th August, 2016 with alarming acceptance.

Their titles sound controversial. Do you agree?

No, sir. They only arouse the interest of men and women who wish to know more about their God.

How are both Christians and Muslims reacting to them?

While Christians have called to express their appreciation to God for these books, Muslims have taken time to request for many copies and are supporting reproduction.

When is your next book coming out?

By the special grace of God, it is hoped that it will come out in the first quarter of 2017.

Do you think you can win major literary awards with your books?

Sir, these books are not competing with any book (s) at all. Jesus said: “You shall know the Truth and the Truth will set you free. John 8:32." However, if they meet the requirement for blessing the society and they are considered to be given awards, let it be.

How do you feel when you are writing?

I feel the presence of the Holy Spirit and bless God all the time.

Do you have any author that inspires you to write?

I have only the Holy Spirit’s inspiration.

Some see writing as tedious. Is it the same for you?

When you are being led by the Holy Spirit, it can never be boring, monotonous, wearisome nor time consuming. It is always very interesting and glorious in His presence.

When some are writing, they do not have time for their families. Is it the same for you?

My writings are collection of materials as dictated by the Holy Spirit anytime, anywhere. This does not take me out of my family at all. As an engineer who is used to figures and calculations, the Holy Spirit has endowed me with interest in essay and composition.

Are you planning to become a full-time writer?

I am a missionary. Anytime the need arises for me to write, the Holy Spirit will direct.
