Venezuelan children, who left behind this infectious disease decades ago, now die by the hundreds due to shortages in the immunization program and in medical treatments for measles.

Venezuelans are being denied their most basic rights, such as the opportunity to protect their health and their lives.

Venezuela was the first country in the world to control malaria. Today, it has seen the largest increase in cases worldwide.

Why? Because Maduro's socialist government cut the budget to prevent and control this disease by 70%. Now, there is an epidemic spread throughout the country. More than 300,000 people have already been infected, and infant and maternal mortality has skyrocketed.

Venezuelans are so desperate that, in the absence of basic drugs such as painkillers, anti-inflammatories, and antibiotics, Venezuelans are resorting to using medication intended for dogs (2).

Maduro's only response to this medical emergency was to say that those who apply for a so-called "patriot card" will be eligible to receive medical treatments for diseases such as cancer. Requiring such a card in order to receive treatment is against international principles regarding access to medical treatments.
