Musicians whose careers nosedived after marriage

Marriage is one of the most important institutions in the world. It’s so important that it’s said that he who findeth a wife foundeth a good thing. But as good as marriage is supposedly, it seems that marriage and entertainment don’t really do well together. Entertainment is one sector that takes its practitioners away from home a lot. But marriage is a union that prefers those in it to be together at all times preferably. So how would an entertainer, male or female, take care of his, her marriage when he, she is away mostly? Because it’s not really easy to combine marriage with an entertainment profession, there are some entertainers who prefer not to get married at all, or in the alternative, marry late. These are the entertainers who do well in entertainment. They are not shackled by having to cater to spouses and kids so they are able to have all the ample time they need for their careers. Some of these set f entertainers, when asked about their marital plans, would say they’ve no plans in that direction. Take for instance popular highlife singer, Flavour. His response to a recent question about marriage was with a question that “have you ever heard of a successful married musician?” For a long time, the P-Square twins refused to marry, and they gave their reason as being that they would lose their female fans if they marry and that in turn would affect their music career. But marry they did, and since they did, the brand P-Square has had no peace. Their problem began with the first marriage which was between Peter P-Square and Lola Omotayo. Their elder brother, Jude, who was also their manager, refused to attend the wedding, and that singular refusal caused a rift among them that is yet to be repaired. With Peter having married, Paul too married, then Jude, and the whole fallout of it is that P-Square is no longer in existence. Before their marriages, P-Square was growing stronger musically, but shortly after their marriages, one crisis after the other, and now, no more P-Square. But they are not by any means the only music brand that has found it tougher to survive after marriage. 2face Idibia is one other music brand that’s no longer accepted like it was before. 2face it is who’s credited with truly taking African music to the next level with his worldwide monster hit, African Queen. He was a bachelor then, he was single, willing to mingle, and mingle he did with more than one woman to the extent that three of them had children for him. The outcry at his supposed waywardness became so much for him to bear that he married one of his baby mamas to deflect the pressure off him. But it might just be that was a mistake on his part, as, since he married, his stock has gradually declined and it’s only now surviving on past achievements. All you have to do is go online to compare the performance of his songs to those of others and you’ll realize that his career is no longer as hot as it was before he got hitched to Annie. Let’s touch on Naeto C now. He was so hot that his songs became very hot like him. Kini Big Deal, Ten Over Ten, and Five And Six were some of those songs that made his brand hot. But then he upped and married a certain Nicole and since then, his brand has suffered. The list of music artists whose careers suffered after marriage is just endless. K-Solo and Jazzman Olofin are two other names also on that list. Oh well, you can’t eat your cake and have it.
