Opalade sells Nigeria with Yoruba folk songs

Opalade

Foluke Iyabode Opalade is one Nigerian who’s currently doing the country proud through her worldwide performances of Ijala and Aro dialects of Yoruba folk music.

A music graduate of the prestigious OAU, she explained that as a little girl, she was inspired to folk music because she used to listen to her father’s albums of musicians like Dauda Epo Akara, Ayinla Omo Wura and many others and they left an indelible mark on her.

Disclosing that she’s happy flying Nigeria’s flag worldwide through her performances, she disclosed that she was lucky that her parents supported her singing ambition, as the norm back then was that parents preferred their children to aspire to allegedly more responsible professions like medicine, engineering and so on.

Keep flying high, ma’am.
