Nigeria accused of plot to wipe out Christianity

Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari
“The remaining Christians in the Federal Republic of Nigeria are counting on you. They need your help to remain alive.”

The above were some of the desperate statements in an email by the international human rights non-governmental organization, CitizenGO, regarding the mortal persecution Christians are undergoing in Nigeria.

The mail continued that “every other week in Nigeria, there’s a kidnapping or a murder of an innocent citizen due to their faith by either militant Fulani herdsmen or the Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram.  The government of Nigeria has not acted to so many pleas local and international to stop this persecution and serve justice to those who have died or are still being held captive.

“In the recent three months, the kidnappings especially of priests and pastors as they go to serve Christians have escalated to the worst. They are targeted and killed on the spot on their way to churches or to serve Christians. This has instilled fear in the followers who depend on these priests and pastors for shepherding. It seems the whole agenda of the militants is to wipe out Christianity in Nigeria by way of kidnapping, murder, holding them in captivity and persecuting them.

“We need to protect Christians in Nigeria from being wiped out. Children haven’t been spared too as they are kidnapped, held captive in forests, made slaves and the not-so-lucky ones turned into brides of the grown-up militants. Pregnant women are cut open and their babies are removed. An interaction with survivors of the militants who got lucky to escape from captivity is always tear jerking as survivors tell the misery they have gone through in the hands of these extremists.

“The fate of many captives is unknown today as is the case of Leah Sharibu and hundreds of others still held in the forests.  The government of Nigeria needs to act, they have not shown any resolved effort to end these kidnappings but have only been silent even when pressured to respond to the Christian genocide happening in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We cannot keep quiet any more, something needs to be done to save Christianity in Nigeria.

“If you want to avoid this happening again, please sign our new petition addressed to the Defence Minister Major General Bashir Salihi Magashi

“We need you, we need to be more active in our fight against Christian Persecution. We are launching this new campaign to protect the Christian population in Nigeria. Many have suffered just because of their faith in Christ. These Christians have a right to life protected by the Constitution of Nigeria, they have a freedom of worship and thus should not live in fear let alone DIE because of their faith in Christ.

“It has happened once, and we will not allow it to happen again.”

Thanks for all you do.
