Folarin Balogun tries to clear World Cup red card controversy but only makes it worse

Even as the controversy over the suspension of the red card issued to Monaco US World Cup star Folarin Balogun continues to swirl, the player at the center of the storm has himself come out to offer more insights on it.

And if he hoped to make the situation better by trying to defend his honor and that of his teammates, maybe what he achieved instead is just to prove further that we do indeed live in a morally bankrupt world.

According to him, whilst the suspension of his red card was probably designed to boost the US team, it had the opposite effect instead.

So, considering that all the team felt weighed down by the supposed immorality of the suspension, why didn’t they all take the moral high road and insist Balogun should serve the ban for the sake of the honor of them all?

And, most importantly, why didn’t Balogun himself, the man at the center of it all, and who’s trying to pull wool over people’s eyes now by implying that the US team wasn’t actually lifted by the suspension, why didn’t he just insist himself that he would serve the ban or refuse to play when he saw the effect the controversy was having on the team?

Oh well, footballers will always be footballers and the only thing they care about is winning even if it’s through dishonorable methods the most famous of which is still Maradona’s Hand of God.
