The probable Spain World Cup winner dilemma of Donald Trump
It’s believed that there’s no love lost between the inimitable US President, Donald Trump, and Spain Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez.
They’ve attacked each other publicly, so it’s no
surprise that the animosity between them has also brought the FIFA World Cup 2026
into its sharp focus because the tournament is being co-hosted by the US,
Canada and Mexico and Spain was one of the favorites to win it and if they did
indeed in the final expected to be played in the US with Trump in attendance
and slated to present the trophy to the winners, would he be able to do so
considering his issues with Spain or rather, Sanchez?
Now, the possibility of Spain indeed winning the
World Cup on US soil, in the very face of maybe not Spain’s opponent but certainly
that of their leader, is just one game away as Spain has indeed qualified for
the final where they will play Argentina on Sunday, July 19, 2026.
So, that has now thrown up again the question that
first came up as a conjecture and will remain one until the reality comes to
pass that what happens if Spain does win the World Cup?
Will Donald Trump present the trophy to them or beat
a fast retreat from the stadium?
There are some instances that shed light on what he
will do if Spain does win.
One of them is that there’s said to be a recent
softening in the hostile tones between him and Sanchez that will also be in
attendance at the final and we will see if they will be sat together or in the
same box.
As well, another has to do with the globally renowned
American singer, Taylor Swift, whom there’s also seemingly no love lost between
her and the mercurial Trump.
When the news made the rounds earlier this year that
she was going to get married, a reporter asked Trump what he thought of it.
Maybe the expected response was him slamming her
again.
Definitely that was the expected response.
But, shockingly, he wished her very well instead.
So, will he present the trophy to Spain if they indeed
win the World Cup?
Based on the pointers above, your guess is as good as
mine.
One thing you can be sure of though is that if Spain
do indeed win the World Cup, Trump will be massively vilified.
Oh well, that is what it is.
