Nigerians! Very resourceful in failure?

There’s a popular belief worldwide that Nigerians are very resourceful people.

And when I first heard of it, I never thought anything of it one way or the other.

According to those who spread the purported compliment, Nigerians are very resourceful because they find a way to survive despite the poor and corrupt economy.

Now, and for some time actually, I’ve finally come to the conclusion that the people who say Nigerians are very resourceful are nothing but deceitful.

They are people who deceive Nigerians with the fake compliment that we are very resourceful to keep Nigerians subdued and unable to fulfill their true potential.

And my reasoning is very simple.

If Nigerians are indeed very resourceful, then Nigeria will not be the big mess it is with no electricity, terrible roads, no potable water, open defecation, terrible healthcare system and so on.

Rather, it will be the best country in the whole world.

And it brings to mind when legendary club football coach, Jose Mourinho, once said his colleague, legendary Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger, was a specialist in failure.

And his reasoning was very simple.

If Wenger was a specialist but was failing to win trophies, then he was a specialist in failure.

So it’s very simple as well that if Nigerians are very resourceful, then we are very resourceful in failure going by the deplorable situation of Nigeria.

What a pity.
