Directing palaver … severe criticism trails Juliet Ibrahim’s latest field … ‘You are the worst actress’

Sexy actress, Juliet Ibrahim, is one actress who must be used by now to being criticized over what she says or does. For instance, when she took up music, she was lambasted by music lovers who shredded her because they said she couldn’t sing. She however took it in her stride and continued recording songs and releasing music videos. Now, she has ventured into another field which has also led to her critics tearing her apart again with extremely sever comments. The beautiful Ibrahim’s latest field is one which’s related to her most popular field: acting. It’s directing. She’s directing and producing a TV series, Every Woman Has A story, and it’s her first effort at directing. EWHAS is the story of five women and everything, everything, about them. Their families, relationships, careers, issues, everything. And so the criticisms began with EWHAS’ storyline: “Sounds like the Lekki Wives series. Good luck to her.” This observation was probably the kindest of all the reactions on Bella Naija. The rest there were quite brutal. “Money talks and bulls**t works. Juliet that cannot act to save a life,” was another one. Others were: “Like I said to Chika Ike, Yvonne Nelson, and so on, use all the money you got to take intensive acting courses because you can’t act to save your life and now you want to produce a movie. It’s always the mediocre actresses who get money and want to produce as our industry gets bombarded with movies not worth a pot to piss in. Same ole junk.” And: “Yes I’m pissed because our industry keeps being saturated with junk, and no one wants to speak up on the quantity bulls**t we get bombarded with. Take Yvonne Nelson movies for instance. They’re enough to make you wanna pull your hair out. And now we got the worst actress amongst them producing.” And: “Some of the characters in it (Esinam, Stella and Patricia) sound like characters from Tyler Perry’s movie, Single Mums Club.” And: “Ghollywood should come up with a more original storyline. This is Lekki Wives all the way.” And: “Another story, another relationship palaver.” And: “Another relationship palaver. Oh my dear. I tire no be small. And not that they will tell it in a fresh and original way. SAME OL’ S*** AND NONSENSE.” And: “This is not an original storyline. This is like every show on television. Call me when you people have come up with an interesting storyline for a TV series.” And one which would have been supportive, but is in fact a criticism: “Seriously, you guys have gone too far. Haba, na wetin be your problem? If she get money wey she no know how to use am, but she want to make movie, na which one be our own. Please, please if you don’t have nice things to say about people, don’t say anything at all. Africans, we dey talk mu kasaaaaa.” So, are these extremely harsh criticisms justified?
