Seyi Shay’s international deal … superficial or substantial?

Saying that Crazy singer Seyi Shay is flying really high at the moment is not an understatement. On the back of being nominated for two categories of the MTV Africa Music Awards, she has disclosed that she has signed a recording deal with Island Universal Records. The signing took place in London and she was so excited by it that she announced it to the whole world through Instagram, saying, “this is what most of us work so hard for. We spend most of our lives chasing this one opportunity to reach the world through a giant platform like this.” Even as it’s understandable that Shay is very excited by the deal, one cannot but wonder that her excitement is so much, considering that this isn’t supposed to be her first international deal, since she was a member of Girls Aloud before, and it was a group that was believed to be managed by the great Beyonce’s father who plotted Beyonce’s rise to stardom. Also, it has to be questioned if the deal is truly substantial and not superficial like th

Simi takes no risk with JAMB Question video

Promising singer, Simi, is doing quite well presently with her song, JAMB Question, which has opened more doors for her since its release. And capitalizing on its success, she has released its video, and she ensured that the video would live up to the song’s success so far by shooting captivating visuals that will only enhance the song further. She also had promising rapper, Falz, in it as her co-star, making it obvious that she wasn’t ready to take any risk with the video’s chances of being successful. And considering that the videos of many songs that became popular before their videos were released receive lethal criticism because people would say the videos were not what they expected, Simi’s JAMB Question scales that hurdle quite easily. Kudos, girl.

Korede Bello like Michael Jackson? … as God Win video taints him and Don Jazzy

It’s no longer news that Korede Bello, and his boss, Don Jazzy, have released the video of the extremely popular song, God Win, which is still increasing in popularity by the day. The video has however, probably without meaning to, exposed Bello’s resemblance to the late megastar who referred to himself as the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. In many scenes of the video, while watching Bello do his thing singing along to God Win in the video, one can almost feel that it’s Jackson one is seeing. Jackson and Bello have almost the same facial features. They have almost the same sort of hair style. Even their body shape is almost the same, and last but not the least, their singing voice is almost the same, a treble-falsetto pitch that’s extremely hard to imitate by their fellow singers. Talent-wise, they are both extremely talented, and just as Jackson became very controversial after attaining unprecedented stardom, Bello also seems on course to becoming as controversial as his almost-lookal
