Gani Adams commends Osun Osogbo Festival 2015

This year’s edition of the annual Osun Osogbo Festival took place penultimate Friday with a lot of pomp and pageantry. Despite the harsh economic situation in the country and particularly in Osun State where civil servants are owed months of salaries, the ancient town of Osogbo, the Osun State capital came alive with the festival. From the eve of the festival, several people including Nigerians living in the country and those in the Diaspora as well as nationalities of other countries started trooping into the ancient town. Last year’s celebration of the festival was low-key and was only marked by those residing in Osun State as the state government prevented people from other parts of the country and abroad entry into the state because of the fear of the Ebola virus which was noted in some states in the country then. By early Friday, the town was agog as people started trooping to the Osun Sacred Grove where the worship of Osun goddess took place. Dedicated to Osun, the Yoruba goddes

Skiibi death publicity stunt exposes entertainers’ shallowness

The recent faking of his own death by music artist, Skiibi, has only proven one point: many of our artists are shallow. Though many of them cannot claim to be close friends with Skiibi, they immediately started posting condolence messages on social media about his death. So when it was found out that he wasn’t dead, many of them were embarrassed. Let’s address Wizkid for example. He was also very quick to post about Skiibi’s death on social media. This is the same Wiz who was paid N1.5m by Saeon to feature on her song, Boogie Down, and when she requested him to tweet the son’s link, he flatly refused to do so. Now, it’s time to really consider if we can blame Skiibi for faking his own death. The obvious answer is no. Everyone has his own life to live, and they can do what they like with it, as long as they don’t physically harm others with it. Skiibi has hurt no one like that, and not even his colleagues, because they only saw his death as a way to raise their own popularity ratings.

Crises keeps dogging Toyin Aimakhu's marriage

Even as Mercy Aigbe has adviced her celebrity colleagues on making their marriages work, there are persistent indications that the marriage of popular actress, Toyin Aimakhu, to actor Adeniyi Johnson, might just not work. Since the marriage held just over a couple of years ago, it has been dogged with crises, and this week, things really got to a head with Aimakhu reportedly deleting Johnson’s pictures and name from her social accounts. Then another report surfaced that Johnson admitted that Aimakhu caught himflirting. One thing is certain. This is one celebrity marriage that certainly has its issues and is currently following the progression of other celebrity marriages that crashed, whereby problems keep occurring until the marriages finally crashed. We can only hope Aimakhu’s marriage will not end up crashing.

Rukky Sanda returns double prong

Rukky Sanda is definitely one of Nollywood’s biggest personalities. When she’s off the scene, she makes the news for her absence, and when she’s on it, she makes the news for her exploits. And the latest about her can be tagged a double prong return. Oh yeah, she’s been off the scene for some time on vacation and now she’s back in a two-fold manner. She celebrated her birthday last Sunday and premiered her latest movie, Dark, written, produced and directed by her, yesterday.

Mercy Johnson expecting 3rd child

One actress who’s not taking the issue of motherhood lightly is Mercy Johnson. She’s presently trending with the news that she’s already expecting her third child and that she will put to bed in December. With this news, it just shows that you can’t really judge a book by its cover. MJ is one of the actresses who was believed to be loose and all that, but she has turned out to be someone who believes in the ideals of marriage and motherhood. Even though the announcement of her wedding to Prince Odianosen Okojie was trailed by some controversy, because a lady surfaced that claimed she was Okojie’s wife, and some women planned to march in protest against the wedding and disrupt it, the wedding held in 2012 and is still going strong. Already, it has produced two children, Purity and Henry. Congrats, MJ.

Mercy Aigbe speaks on celebrity marriages

Top Yoruba Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe, has spoken out on one of the thorniest issues in the entertainment industry: the high rate of celebrity marriages failure. Aigbe, who is married to Lanre Gentry, and has also had her own fair share of drama when it comes to relationships, is definitely in a position to speak on why celebrity marriages fail, since she’s a successfully married celebrity, and she didn’t mince words when speaking about the subject with respected media outfit, E-Rave. According to her: “Divorce is not only in the entertainment industry. It happens everywhere and is not peculiar to Nollywood actresses only. The rate of divorce in the industry is way more than what we witnessed five or ten year ago. Some marriages fail because some people are not ready to stay married or they are wrongly advised.” Explaining further, she said, “Some people get married for the wrong reasons. When they get into it, they find out that the main reason they got married in the first place

Why’s Lepacious Bose shedding her 'proud' weight?

Hardcore fans of A-list comedian and MC, Lepacious Bose, would have known by now that she’s shedding some of the weight which made her stand out and helped her break into the entertainment sector. Without a doubt, Lepacious is one of the biggest women (in size) in the entertainment industry. She’s so big, or fat, whichever one you prefer to use for her, that she chose a name which is the polar opposite of her size, just to capture people’s interest. That was her first gimmick to sell herself: being introduced as Lepacious, which means very slim, and then people discovering that she’s actually very fat (or big). Her second gimmick was to be very brazen about her size. She never shied away from speaking about it on stage and claiming that she was very proud of it and that she was more beautiful and better off than women who were slim. And when this reporter interviewed her, she admitted that she used to be insecure about her size, to the extent that if she entered a public bus, she would
