Yemi Alade launches jewellry line and mentorship programme

Saying that Johnny singer, Yemi Alade, is really flying high nowadays is not an understatement. Since the release of the aforementioned Johnny, her life has taken a real turn for the better with local and international shows coming her way, and awards too. Despite her considerable success, that many of her colleagues are still aspiring to, she’s not slowing down but is in fact stepping, or rather stepped up to the next level by launching a jewelry line in conjunction with Bland2Glam, an online retail jewelry store. According to Seyi Banigbe, B2G’s creative director, “Yemi Alade is the perfect superstar for us to work with on a jewelry collection fronted by a superstar. She’s been our ambassador for over a year and has proven herself a consummate professional and a hard worker who always keeps to her word. If she says she’s coming for a photo shoot, she does, even if she didn’t sleep the night before.” Speaking further, she said that it took B2G and Alade several meetings to come up with the appropriate jewelry designs that make up the Yemi Alade Collection as they had to go for designs that actually reflect Alade’s personality. YAC’s launching took place at The Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos during the week in a two-in-one ceremony that also saw the launching of Get Mented, an initiative by B2G and Alade to get successful women to mentor less successful women. Speaking about GM, Banigbe said, “GM is an E-mentorship programme. The world is now a global village so you don’t have to be with someone physically to mentor them. So GM is a mentorship that takes place online over the course of six weeks and it’s about inspiring women through successful who will give average women six weeks of interaction and mentorship so as to motivate them to thereby acquire the impetus and drive to become successful themselves.” Concluding, she said, “Women, stop complaining! Get up and excel. When you excel, Nigeria will not ignore you.” Sound advice definitely.
