Rape, child molestation allegations against me are lies, baseless –Reverend Wusu

Stephen Centre International
Group of Schools is an education facility founded by Reverend Isaac Oluwole
Newton Wusu basically to take care of the education of the numerous children
who’ve become orphans or lost at least one parent to the several crises in the
north of Nigeria. Based in Aregbe, Abeokuta, Ogun State, SCIGS also has
students some of the children of its host community. OSEYIZA OOGBODO BLOG was
at its recent graduation ceremony which held on Thursday, July 26th,
2018 and during an interview of Wusu, he spoke as well on some recent
accusations against him.
Today’s graduation. What number
is it? Is it the fifth, seventh or tenth?
It’s the tenth edition, and we
were able to graduate 19 children of the widows across northern Nigeria. Every
year, the children have been here for over 19 years, and some of them have been
successful, have graduated, we have one in law school, to finish very soon, and
now 19 of them are outgoing with four community children and it’s a thing of
joy to see ourselves every year getting these children to come out of our
secondary school. Most of them came here and they couldn’t speak one simple
word of English. But today, we’re seeing them in debates, they’re winning awards
for our school, best prizes left and right and we’re happy that in this small
world, we’re able to make an impact and make a change in the lives of these
children who’ve lost their fathers. Some of them were here when they lost their
mothers as well. But we can see the Lord turning their lives around and that’s
the only thing that can make us happy.
How’re you able to sustain your
vision of taking care of these orphans?
Well, you know, Stephen Centre
has been under fire for some time now. Some people who are jobless, started
recruiting our children, paying them a lot of money, social media is filled up
with all kinds of allegations of rape, child molestation which never occurred
here in Stephen Centre. All are lies, baseless. The state government has set up
a panel, the DPP is out with a report, and the report has vindicated me,
vindicated our officers, but, you know, we live in a small world, especially
the world of social media, where social media where even for some of us
Christians, it has become like a Bible to us, and that’s the first thing we
read. And somebody said how he wished people made use of social media, they
could make use of their Bibles like that. But this is a different world completely.
Whenever you have a breaking news on social media, it goes like a wildfire
lighting everywhere. But the truth is that we’re doing our best, and I’m
grateful to the Lord, and especially to most of our friends who surround me.
They’re advicing me to pay less attention to their evil campaign. That what I
should pay attention to rather is the good works I’m doing. We’re producing
these children. Unfortunately, some of them who have no direction in life are
being hired, they’re being paid. Some of them are even to the point of
prostitution in night clubs. But these kind of people, even some white people,
they care less about the direction of these children, they just pay them some
peanuts and begin to put all kinds of stupid images on the screen, on
television. As I’m talking to you, I still received a call that they’re in
Kaduna doing their campaign of calumny even when the court has cleared me and
said there’s nothing like it, and I know within myself, and how I wish
something like a DNA could be conducted. I’m ready. I volunteer myself, and
there you will see the beginning and end of what they’re calling the truth.
