Has humanity won its latest battle?
Suddenly, the word filtered out strongly toward the end of 2019 that a virus was making the rounds in China.
Most people who heard about it in other countries felt it was a China thing since it seemed to be confined to just China then.
Then 2020 came, and as the year was beginning to prepare to really take off in the first quarter, the virus which much heed hadn’t been paid to worldwide hijacked the whole world’s attention by spreading globally and striking people dead at an alarming rate on its impartial journey.
The name given to it, COVID-19, became a terror to the hearing, and especially since March 2020 when, to halt its spread, the whole world had to go on a lockdown that made it apparent it was humanity’s latest battle.
Since the world’s creation, humanity has faced many battles, most notable of which are the two world wars and plagues similar to COVID-19 in their spread and merciless consumption of human lives.
They all took their toll on humanity over years, but humanity always had the last say by triumphing over them.
Now, is it possible that humanity has already won its latest battle, that of COVID-19, as the current disposition of humans regarding it seems to indicate they no longer see it as a threat?
Despite it not yet officially solved as a problem, countries are opening up again, sports events have resumed albeit without spectators, students are going back to school and so on.
Though there are still daily reports of its continuing spread in many countries, they are nevertheless reopening gradually, optimistically, and it beggars the question if humanity has won its latest battle against COVID-19?
Well, here at Oseyiza Oogbodo Blog, we do hope and pray so.
Peace be unto the world.
