War brews between Seyi Shay and Yemi Alade

Rivalry in the entertainment industry begins seemingly innocuously. And the one that’s brewing between Johnny singer, Yemi Alade, and Murda singer, Seyi Shay, is certainly starting on that note. Prior to last weekend, there wasn’t any talk of rivalry between them. But last weekend, Alade won the best female award over Shay at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards. And being that it was the second time she would win such an award over Shay in less than three months, it has set the tone for not just a rivalry, but a full-blown war. Put bluntly, Alade has disgraced Shay by winning the best female category over her twice. The first time she did it was at the MTV Africa Music Awards. Alade’s wins over Shay means only one thing: her brand value will increase over Shay’s. Considering that an artist’s brand value is his or her selling point, Shay can certainly not be the happiest of artists right now. The only solution is for her to fight back, through whatever method is available to her, and when she does that, Alade will fight too as she wouldn’t want to lose the goodies that come with being the more successful artist. Oh well, their rivalry will only be a good thing for music lovers as they will make music to do outdo each other, and in doing that, the fans will be the ones that benefit most, just like in football rivalry when rival teams bid to outdo themselves on the pitch and it’s their supporters who get entertained greatly with the great football they play thereby.
