Funke Akindele turns market cleaner
Popular actress Funke Akindele
will join Sterling Bank this Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 7am for the bank’s
quarterly national cleaning exercise under the Sterling Environmental Makeover
(STEM) series.
The A-list actress is scheduled
to lead the Lagos leg of the exercise at Oyingbo Market.
The exercise, which is in
partnership with the officials of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority
(LAWMA), KPMG and Wecyclers will hold simultaneously in Oyo, Delta, Enugu,
Rivers, Ekiti, Kaduna, Abia, Ogun, Osun, Sokoto, Kano, Kwara and Plateau states
in collaboration with the relevant regulatory agencies on environmental
management.
Sterling’s Executive Director, Finance
& Strategy, Abubakar Suleiman, said Sterling came up with the exercise as
part of its contribution to the promotion of a healthy environment and in line
with its corporate citizenship focus on environmental sustainability. He added
that Sterling would continually engage in initiatives that will protect the
environment and indirectly ensure the protection of lives.
The event will also involve its
customers and executive management as well as staff of KPMG and Wecyclers and
LAWMA all joining in to promote a clean environment and good health among
Nigerians.
“What we are doing this weekend
in Lagos and 13 other states in the country is all about making impact that
positively alters our environment for good. We want to keep on doing the small
things while we plan the big audacious ones. Each time you join the street
sweepers to clean the street, you are part of an unstoppable force to make our
world a better place and that is what we want to achieve with this exercise,” Suleiman
concluded.
Akindele, popularly known as
Jenifa, expressed her excitement and called out to the public to join her on
Saturday. “My peoples, hous you? I wee be hat STEM o, cleanings the plaze. Came
and join me oh!”
