Special Rep condemns Libya 36 men killed
The Special Representative of the
Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ghassan Salama, has strongly condemned
the killing of 36 men whose bodies were found in the Abayar area, Libya.
The bodies, which were found
handcuffed, reportedly bore gunshot wounds and torture-related injuries.
"I am appalled by this
heinous crime and I call for an immediate, impartial and effective
investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice," the Special
Representative said. "There have been many similar cases in the past two
years but without accountability."
He then reminded everyone that
killing prisoners, ordering them to be killed or allowing them to be killed is
a crime under domestic and international law.
