Abortion war rages in Kenya

A handful of pro-abortion activists have demanded that pro-life billboards running in the streets of Nairobi County be pulled down.

Sponsored by the Nairobi-based Sozo Church of God, 13 billboards and posters near traffic lights and on electricity poles along Nairobi’s main roads state “Abortion is Murder!” or “Shut down abortion clinics!” under a picture of a pre-born baby. Another has a beautiful message that reads: “Your mother gave you a chance, it wasn’t easy then too. Give your baby a chance!”

The billboards which encourage women to keep their babies as opposed to killing them through abortions are now at the risk of being pulled down.

Speaking to CitizenGO Africa representative, Reverend Catherine Oganga, who is in charge of the billboards project, she expressed her fears as now the advertising company wants to pull out from running the billboards.

What do the Kenyan laws state on abortion:

(1) Every person has the right to life.

(2) The life of a person begins at conception.

(3) A person shall not be deprived of life intentionally, except to the extent authorised by this Constitution or other written law.

(4) Abortion is not permitted unless, in the opinion of a trained health professional, there is need for emergency treatment, or the life or health of the mother is in danger, or if permitted by any other written law.

It is illegal to procure an abortion in Kenya as also stated in the penal code: (158) Any person who, with intent to procure miscarriage of a woman, whether she is or is not with child, unlawfully administers to her or causes her to take any poison or other noxious thing, or uses any force of any kind, or uses any other means whatever, is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for fourteen years.

The freedom of expression is also protected by the Kenyan law in Article 32 while Article 33 protects people on their rights to belief, conscience and opinions.

The Sozo Church of God has not contravened any law by sponsoring the billboards that promote adoption and giving birth instead of abortions, they are just but targets of a well funded group of abortionists who affiliate themselves with the largest abortion corporation in the world, the Internal Planned Parenthood Federation and their networks.

With this petition, we seek your support in making sure that the pro-life messages on those billboards continue to be read by Nairobians by asking the Governor of Nairobi not to pull them down.

We urge the governor of Nairobi County to instead make speedy revocation of licences of all abortionists operating in his county.

Please SIGN THIS PETITION to also encourage the Sozo Church of God and the advertisers not to pull down the pro-life messages.

Thank you for being there.

Kind regards.
