AFSIA Solar Awards back again with Africa Energy Forum
They’re so important because they
drive people to excel beyond their normal capabilities just so they can be recognized
for their efforts.
So many awards that have helped
humanity greatly include the Pulitzer awards for journalists, the Grammys for
musicians, the Oscars for actors, the Nobel Prizes for different sectors, the
FIFA awards for football excellence.
Awards are so many, and as Africa
gradually begins to turn to solar energy, the AFSIA Solar Awards
(www.AFSIAsolar.com/) will definitely aid its necessary solar growth.
And the good news now is that it’s
back for its second edition and the window is now open for those in the Africa
solar sector to apply for it to be recognized for their contributions to solar
energy development on the continent.
Just like its first edition, this
second one is also in collaboration with EnergyNet, the organizer of the Africa
Energy Forum which has been holding for more than 20 years and which will take
place this year in London from November 15 – 17 when the AFSIA laureates will
also be revealed.
Applications to the AFSIA Solar
Awards will be assessed by some of the best experts of the African solar
industry. They will review every application independently and will nominate
the outstanding ones in each category.
This year the jury is composed of
Demi Edosomwan from TotalEnergies Ventures, Catherine Mukobo from ACERD, Tony
Tiyou from Renewables in Africa, Wale Shonibare from AfDB, Ujunwa Ojemeni from
the Ministry of Energy & Natural Resources - Lagos State Government, Salma
Okonkwo from UBI Group, Wikus Kruger from the Power Futures Lab at the
University of Cape Town and Dr. Harald Schützeichel from the Solar Energy
Foundation.
As a major player in the solar
industry, this is your unique opportunity to shine and be recognized as a true
leader in the industry covering all areas from small solar home systems to
grid-connected large-scale systems.
