Movie review: Ogunmolagbe by Sandra Okunzuwa proves its worth simply in its complexity

Ogunmolagbe is one movie that is very complex in its plot and settings.

And, unsurprisingly, its complexity makes it very difficult to execute.

But the filmmaking passion of the producer cum lead actress, Sandra Okunzuwa, alongside the talents of her co-stars, Itele D Icon, Kemity, Bryan Okoye, Seilat Adebowale, and those of the rest of the cast as well as the crew, really helped to save the day to deliver a movie that is well worth watching.

Its plot is quite captivating because when the lead actress, Okunzuwa as Omo Oran, meets the lead actor, Itele D Icon as Ogunmolagbe, she doesn’t hide it from him that she’s so problematic that she brings bad luck so much so that she was cast out of her village to go and die in the evil forest.

As a matter of fact, her name, Omo Oran, which is Yoruba and in English means Problem Child, already says everything about her.

Ogunmolagbe, who met her in distress thereby, was however unconcerned about her troubled history that she rattled off to him like a parrot, as well as her implicative name, Omo Oran, that would have made her repulsive to would-be friends, benefactors and so on.

Rather, he chose to be her knight in shining armor and renamed her from the vile Omo Oran to Ariyike which is Something Cherished just to bring positivity to her life.

And therein the plot became even more complex and thereby captivating.

And, luckily for the viewer, though it’s very complex in its plot and settings and thereby very difficult to execute, the cast and crew were able to find a simple way to deliver it to make it a worthy watch that helps the viewer to find common ground with it.

So I certainly didn’t regret watching it.

But I don’t know about you.
