Nigeria’s David Oyelowo lands James Bond role

For a long time now, there’s been a debate over whom the first black man to ever act the role of the iconic British spy character, James Bond, will be. Respected names like the Americans Idris Elba and Sean Combs have been mooted as likely first black James Bonds. And even as that debate rages on, Nigeria’s very own David Oyelowo, an actor who is rising steadily and is based in Los Angeles, has landed the role. But before you get too carried away, Oyelowo won’t be playing Bond on the silver screen. His voice will just be used as Bond’s own in an audio book, and he’ll be the second black man’s whose voice will be so used, Hugh Quarshie being the first.. But it’s still a worthy feather to his cap as anything to do with Bond is a major achievement worldwide. Congrats, Dave.
