Skiibi death publicity stunt exposes entertainers’ shallowness

The recent faking of his own death by music artist, Skiibi, has only proven one point: many of our artists are shallow. Though many of them cannot claim to be close friends with Skiibi, they immediately started posting condolence messages on social media about his death. So when it was found out that he wasn’t dead, many of them were embarrassed. Let’s address Wizkid for example. He was also very quick to post about Skiibi’s death on social media. This is the same Wiz who was paid N1.5m by Saeon to feature on her song, Boogie Down, and when she requested him to tweet the son’s link, he flatly refused to do so. Now, it’s time to really consider if we can blame Skiibi for faking his own death. The obvious answer is no. Everyone has his own life to live, and they can do what they like with it, as long as they don’t physically harm others with it. Skiibi has hurt no one like that, and not even his colleagues, because they only saw his death as a way to raise their own popularity ratings. The public didn’t give a damn one way or the other about him because he isn’t really popular yet. And that’s just the crux of it all. Skiibi did what he did because he wanted to be visible, something that’s very difficult for an unknown artist to achieve, and he achieved it with his death publicity stunt. And if you’re one of those who really want to condemn Skiibi, just go and try being an artist, and when it’s so difficult that you even want to give up, you’ll realize you have to do something drastic to become known, and that’s what Skiibi has done, and successfully for that matter, because he’s now known.
