Nike tells the story of Blessing Okagbare, Africa's fastest woman
To herald the #AfricaSoFast Campaign, NIKE shares the inspirational story of Africa’s fastest woman, Blessing Okagbare, with the world.
Blessing, the 26-year-old world class sprinter and long jumper, is already the fastest woman in Africa — her best of 10.79 seconds is the continent’s 100-meter record — but the Nigerian athlete is less concerned with maintaining her ranking than she is about beating herself. “It’s all about setting goals and keeping your mind set on those goals. Don’t ever give up on yourself,” she declared.
In a no-holds-barred conversation on her loves and likes, showcasing her arduous journey to the top of her game, Blessing shares her love of gospel music, almonds and her favourite Nike training shoes. With her sight set on the upcoming World Track and Field Championships in Beijing, Blessing shares her inspirational journey on Nike.com.
