Felabration UK to hold August 30
The popular festival,
Felabration, which holds Nigeria spellbound every year and keeps growing in
stature, is to hold in the United Kingdom on August 30.
Felabration was conceived to
commemorate the life of and celebrate the legacy of the legendary musician,
Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, who founded the music genre, afrobeat, and this UK gig is spearheaded
by his daughter Shalewa and supported by DLA World.
Afrobeat and Fela’s music and
influence have travelled the global music landscape. Afrobeat’s explosion and
rise in the UK is arguably the biggest music breakthrough in decades, and it’s
also believed to be responsible for the preservation of the African culture
through music, fashion and arts in recent years.
It’s fair to say all afrobeat
artists are descendants of or influenced by in some way, and for one day, the UK
will celebrate him and host some of the biggest names in afrobeat, afropop and
afrosoul who will incorporate and showcase Fela’s music, his charisma and
razzmatazz on the big stage at Indigo At The O2.
The festival will foster unity
and greatness and will offer a showstopping experience from psychedelic stage
performances, décor recreating the ambiance of The Shrine, and on-screen
visuals to cultural dances and much more.
Advance tickets are available
right now on SHOOBS, AXS or via 03003659200.
Line-up announcement coming soon!
