Struggling singers, Praiz and Tonye in latest publicity stunt

… as Simi sets to oust Praiz from X3M Music

The news in town presently about two singers who are yet to reach the pinnacles some of their colleagues have reached is definitely not palatable, given the recent happenings in the industry.

The two singers who have by their own hand put themselves in an unnecessary spotlight are Heartbeat singer Praiz and Ari Belema singer Tonye.

Though the two are very good singers and achieved some measure of success, they still have a very long way to go and probably in order to fasttrack their success, they’ve taken a step that can only backfire in their faces in the long run, as the said step backfired on all those who took it before them.

According to a report currently being circulated by Tonye’s publicist, Tonye and Praiz are presently dating because they arrived together at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards which held last weekend holding each other’s hands and looking happy together.

Sadly for the duo, it’s quite plain to see that they are not dating and that their seemingly dating is a publicity stunt for them to make the news. And if not for the stunt, they wouldn’t have made any news individually with their AMVCA attendance.

So they made the news as a supposed couple, but they should beware because all those who trod the same path before them regretted it at the end of the day. Such alleged couples before them include D’Banj-Genevieve, Saeon-Uti, Jim Iyke-Nadia Buari and Jaywon-Imelda J.

So why are these two singers in a stunt that one of them, Praiz, doesn’t seem to need?

On the surface, Praiz seems to have it good. He’s singed to X3M Music and is an MTN ambassador. However, his songs are not really doing well, and there are rumours that X3M Music is already considering dropping him since another act on the label, Simi, is blowing very hot right now with her smash hit, JAMB Question, and also promises to cut across more musically.

If you doubt that X3M Music can drop Praiz, cast your mind back to Etcetera who was on the label before him. They dropped him for Praiz and now they can drop Praiz for Simi.

As for Tonye, the stunt can’t really affect her that much because she’s not yet known as such. All the same, she has to be careful because artists who are really sure of themselves don’t rely on publicity stunts to enhance their brands.
