What you should learn from the bitter fallout of close friends Seun Kuti and Very Dark Man

Life is always full of the unexpected.

One of which is the current messy saga between Seun Kuti and Vincent Martins Otse aka Very Dark Man aka VDM.

Seun Kuti is a respected afrobeat musician who shot to fame on the back of his father, the legendary Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, who created afrobeat and has evergreen hits like Lady, Zombie and Army Arrangement to his credit and just this year won a posthumous Grammy Lifetime Achievement award.

In his own case, VDM is an activist who is really trying his best to bring about positive change in the extremely troubled and corrupt Nigeria.

And it was a public secret that both Kuti and VDM are close friends with VDM visiting Kuti and they had a recent meet where they honored Kuti’s late legendary father, Fela, at his gravesite.

Now, these two formerly close friends have fallen out very publicly and very messily and as goes with friends who fall out, they are trading accusations left, right and center and it’s also very possible as mostly happens with friends that their public reasons for their fight are far from its actual cause.

Well, no matter its cause, it has only further proven that friends today can be enemies tomorrow.
