Same-sex marriage will come to Africa –Primate Ayodele

Primate Ayodele
Primate Babatunde Elijah Ayodele recently released the 2015/2016 edition of his annual book, Warnings To The Nations … A Collection Of Divine Signals, which contains several prophecies about what will happen in Nigeria and the world in the next year. OSEYIZA OOGBODO BLOG met him during the media release and he spoke on national issues and the prophecies in the book.

For many years, you have annually published a book of prophecies. What’s in the book this year?

Well, it’s more than what we have had before and it contains current happenings in the nation as pertaining to the government, the economy and so on, as well as those of other nations of the world.

Going by current happenings in the National Assembly, what do you think is still ahead? Will PDP come back?

The truth is that APC is going to crack and a new party will come from it, and PDP will try its possible best thereby to get its way again. But these are things we have to be cautious and prayerful about in order to avert the impending danger. I see the government of President Buhari going through ups and downs. He will face challenges because a lot of people don’t want him to succeed. Turning to the House of Assembly members, Governors and a one-time President will create a lot of problems for him and he must be very watchful about being tribal. These are what I can say at this moment. When you get the book, you’ll get more insight.

America has legalized same-sex marriage. Do you see that coming to Africa?

It will come to Africa. Buhari should not rely on America. It’s a mere waste of time because America will not give what him what he wants especially and this will take so much from him emotionally and psychologically, thereby draining him unnecessarily. What is our own stand on same-sex marriage? That it will get to some places in Africa. Does it make sense, though? It’s one of the places America is getting it wrong, and it’s why Buhari must not rely much on America.

Are you going to join religious bodies like the Christian Association of Nigeria to stand against same-sex marriage?

Do I have to join them? I’ve said my own time and time again, I don’t have time for CAN or PFN. There’s nothing like CAN because there’s need for a change of leadership there. People like Ayo Oritsejafor should leave CAN. That’s why there’s nothing happening in CAN and nothing’s coming out of CAN. Talking of people to lead CAN, it’s not Oritsejafor. We need a set of reliable people to lead CAN. If you don’t join them, how will the change come about? This is the change, what we are saying now is the change, what we are saying through your paper is the change. What do you see as the greatest problem of the nation today? The greatest problem is poverty. To tackle poverty is not an easy task.

Do you see Buhari as the messiah?

He’s not the messiah. He’ll only try his best to put one or two things in place. There are lots of factors that’ll stop him from working effectively. To fight the cabal, he’ll cause a lot of destruction. He’ll only try to do his best. It’s not by age. Mugabe is older than Buhari. If Mugabe can still turn his country around, then 72 years old is still young.

Are you satisfied with the way Buhari’s administration is going so far?

I’m not here to judge anybody. I don’t have any comment because that’s not my work. My job is to pray for him. It’s left for the analysts to comment on that.

You once said Boko Haram must be weakened spiritually before they can be conquered. Do you see that happening soon?

What’s on ground now is more than Boko Haram. The issue is that other sects can come in, so when we’re talking about Boko Haram, it’s a mere waste of time. Nigerian intelligence must work ahead of Boko Haram. Nigeria will fight terrorism, but we should be careful so it doesn’t spread. I still see there’s going to be corruption in the coalition force. Nigeria should stick to her army. Let the army be empowered, well paid. When you’re not paying somebody well, and the person is fighting Boko Haram, it’s not good. Soldiers are human beings too. We’re the cause of Boko Haram. Some men of God have said that judgment will start from the house of God and that the Church has failed to play her role in the society. They said that’s the reason for the decay we are seeing today. What’s your take on this? That’s where PFN comes in. They are the frontliners. They are closer to the government, but they will not allow those who are saying the truth to get closer to the government. They should all prepare for the judgment. It’ll not only start from the house of God, it’ll start on the altar, because most of the people staying at the altar are not sincere. You’ll be ashamed of yourself if you look at the morals of some of them. You’ll ask yourself, is this a man of God or what? We’re waiting and we’re only praying that God will help us and that we’re not swept away by the judgment. Those who are not qualified should go and sit down. We have career men of God. Those who wanted to be men of God to avoid poverty. Poverty makes a lot of people want to be men of God. To be a man of God takes a lot of things, a lot of discipline, a lot of prayers, a lot of things are involved.

One thing you have said consistently is the spiritual solution to Nigeria’s problems. Does it extend to this Buhari administration, however, as he has defeated many prophecies with his emergence against many predictions that he wouldn’t win the election. What do you have to say about this?

Let me correct that. You can’t say anybody can defeat anybody’s prophecy. You can’t say that. Prophecy is not manmade. It’s a warning. When a prophecy is given, prayer can avert it, except that person doesn’t pray. Except that person is ignorant and refuses to take necessary precautions. Buhari’s a human being. He cannot defeat anyone’s prophecy. We’ve heard people prophesy and say it would come to pass except they’re not called … That’s why He’s God and He’ll be God forever. I’m just trying to buttress the fact that no one can defeat the Word of God.

You once mentioned cleansing. That the nation needs to be cleansed.

Yes, Nigeria needs a lot of cleansing because there’s too much blood and injustice so we need cleansing and prayer to avert the impending crises. What’s God telling you as a prophet concerning Buhari? He needs to be careful of the people giving him advice. He should face the normal thing, create employment and try to fight poverty. He cannot fight corruption as expected. His government will be better and stable, but it won’t be the best.

What do you have to say about Nigeria’s economy which was said to be the best in Africa just last year?

I’ve said it before that the economy will collapse and that’s part of what Buhari will fight. I’ve not seen the reality of our economy as the best in Africa. We still need to battle a lot on the economy.

You do a lot of predicting. How do you come about your predictions or do they just come naturally?

It’s always in the early part of the year, around March to be precise, that they come. That is when we receive these messages, compile them, and take them to the press. For over 40 days in prayers, that’s when we come about all these predictions.

Do you go into a trance to get them?

When you are a prophet, God can speak to you anywhere. I don’t go anywhere at that particular time. I do my spiritual exercises. When God says this is going to happen, that’s going to happen, we put them down.

You’re one of the foremost seers in the country and you make predictions thereby. Why don’t our leaders listen?

You know when God sent Moses to Pharaoh, he refused to listen, he ignored it. People don’t listen to prophecies. It’s not new that some people don’t believe there’s anything like prophecies. You should know we’ve different human beings, different religions, so when you predict and somebody doesn’t believe in God, what happens? Prophecies are for the nations, for people to listen and follow.

How do you feel when your prophecies come to pass?

I feel bad because I don’t want a bad prophecy to come to pass. It’s for you to be careful, to heed the warning, but do they do that? So when you ignore it and it comes to pass, I feel bad. I’m not happy when some of them, I mean the bad ones, come to pass. Prophecy doesn’t even need to come to pass, except the good ones.

What should we expect as Nigerians?

We should just be praying fervently, praying without ceasing. We should pray that the Lord helps the President.
