I’m not eyeing political office –Zaaki Azzay

Azzay

Zaaki Azzay became a household name as a singer. But his recent moves almost make it seem as if he’s eyeing political himself, and when to comes to political office, never count anyone out as some of his fellow entertainers have achieved it and the actor-director-producer Desmond Elliot is a very recent example of an entertainer-turned-politician.

But when Oseyiza Oogbodo Blog asked him recently if he had political aspirations, as he has really been crusading for human rights, especially those of his home state, Benue, which has been under siege by Fulani herdsmen, he denied it point blank.

Nooooooo. Noooooo. It’s not about political office, but my people who are dying. What is political office? No, no, no, no, no. My interest is, I feel that every, well I don’t know, but I think that you don’t have to be a politician or be in a politically appointed position to be able to contribute to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“You don’t have to be a politician. You don’t have to hold an office with the state or federal government to contribute to Nigeria. I think one of the greatest problems we have as Nigerians is our attitude. Our attitude towards ourselves and our country. That’s why there’s a lot of corruption. All these things happening are also rooted in corruption. So everybody must not go and join politics and be in one political office before they can do something.”
