Like Nigeria First Lady Remi Tinubu, like Sijibomi ‘Sujimoto’ Ogundele?

Success makes people garrulous.

It makes them able to say many things without pushback.

So a successful person finds it so easy to say they can do menial jobs and that there’s no big deal in them.

And you can’t blame them for being like that.

Because their success insulates them from the reality of menial jobs!

So when a successful person talks about or pushes menial jobs and their ilk, they are never able to do so convincingly, even if they make sense, and even if they done such jobs in the past, because having moved on from them, they no longer understand them.

This is why when the Nigeria First Lady, Remi Tinubu, said recently that Nigerians can engage in corn roasting, akara frying and kuli-kuli selling because they need little capital, it didn’t sit well because she’s extremely successful so maybe doesn’t really understand what it means to Nigerians to do those businesses, even though there’s nothing whatsoever wrong with them.

And virtually just like her, the Nigeria billionaire Sijibomi Ogundele, CEO of Sujimoto, told Punch recently that if he falls, he’s going to bounce back by first washing cars and building his capital base back through it.

And, honestly, his analysis about it made sense, especially for anyone who knows that life is in stages and you build gradually.

Sadly for him, though, his message, which is actually inspirational, and should inspire people at the bottom, didn’t resonate with people because of his current billionaire status that makes it also justifiable that he doesn’t understand the realities of car washing and being broke and so makes it extremely hard for people to believe that he will just easily settle for car washing, even if for a while, after living the very high life.

Oh well, humans are so complex and unpredictable that you never know what they can get up to in life.
