The Church’s good news in a very long while

One thing that can be said about the Church is that it has become a victim of its own success.

This is not always the case for successful institutions.

But it is certainly now for the Church.

Success most times leads to what is called the comfort zone which is very dangerous for people and institutions.

Once someone is in their comfort zone, their brain stops functioning properly and they lose the drive, resourcefulness and innovation that made them successful.

And it’s the same scenario for an organization once it’s in a comfort zone.

Nokia is an example. It was easily leading in the phone market so successfully that it entered a comfort zone that couldn’t make it see and understand when the time for change came.

Likewise BlackBerry. The story has it that it scorned the opportunity to move into touchscreen phones and paid the price dearly.

In the case of entertainers, when they are struggling, they are so humble. Once they make start making some money, they get into a comfort zone, become arrogant and their downfall is the price they pay.

Apply this theory now to the Church. It became so rich, admired, coveted and powerful that it entered a comfort zone, so much so that now things are falling apart for it, it’s blind to see them and is even aiding those out to destroy it.

To reset from a comfort zone, it takes a shocking incident or a series of shocking incidents.

In the case of the Church, despite the brutal persecution of Christians worldwide and the wanton destruction of churches by non-Christians, the Church has deliberately refused to wake up from its slumber to address the preventable issue and is rather sleeping on soundly believing it’s very safe in its comfort zone.

So, the shocking recent news that a traditional Catholic group, the ultra-traditionalist Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), formally broke away from the Pope and the Vatican on July 1, 2026 is very good news for the Church and for the Church that it’s only bad news you read about it regarding how its members are being brutally persecuted worldwide, the SSPX’s break with the Pope and Vatican is definitely good news for the Church after a very long while.

And this is one of the types of shocking actions that can actually help the Church finally break free from the lethargy its comfort zone has imposed on it.

Another is that the Presbyterian Church in the US faced an unusual internal revolt after it wanted to impose monogamous sexual relationships on its ordained clergy so it chose to put it to the vote, and aware that it would lose the vote at its General Assembly which ended July 2, 2026, it didn’t vote to adopt the clergy monogamy mandate but voted instead for more studies on gender, sexuality, and relationships.

Whilst this is just a diplomatic delay tactic, the fact that it couldn’t vote yes or no on the monogamy dictate, and right now has no definitive stance on it, means that its clergy that are interested in polygamy and polyamory can partake in them and there’s nothing it can do about that is good news too for the Church that accepts everything, including the brutal persecution of its flock, so why can’t it accept polygamy and polyamory?

And, in that vein of internal revolt against the crippling policies of the weak Church leadership, one of the grouses of the SSPX for standing up to the Pope and Vatican thereby is that interreligious dialogue is not beneficial and it’s very right about that.

So what the Church needs is for even more groups to break with the current weak leadership and start preaching to Christendom the real message that would help it advance and make it great again.

And, hopefully, the SSPX’s break from the Pope and Vatican will lead to that very end.
