Will Nigeria First Lady Remi Tinubu apologize for insensitive comments?

It’s said that people should lead by example.

That’s the main reason Nigerians were angry when Nigeria First Lady Remi Tinubu cited corn roasting, akara frying and kuli-kuli selling as businesses Nigerians could do because they involved little capital.

The problem wasn’t the businesses themselves which several people are already doing.

It was that they were insensitive, coming from someone whose husband, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was misleading the country, going by the economic downturn since he became President in 2023.

It was that they were also wide of the mark because she isn’t doing them herself, thereby leading by example, and she definitely doesn’t wish them for certain people close to her.

So, because they came from her, they generated a very massive backlash, so much so that it was expected that she would apologize for them.

In a sane clime, that would have been the case.

Nigeria is however far from sane so maybe she will when wishes finally become horses so beggars can ride.
