FIFA, UEFA messy battle for football’s soul leads to expected UEFA World Cup boycott

As expected, UEFA has announced that it will no longer participate in the FIFA World Cup.

Whilst it was angling before for the removal of FIFA President Gianni Infantino over the suspension of the red card issued to US World Cup star Folarin Balogun, the realization that many FIFA members, over 200, were solidly behind Infantino, made that a very tough call.

So its next recourse was to pull totally away from FIFA because FIFA was going after purportedly dirty money but that is just a smokescreen since UEFA itself cannot be said to be free of such money since it allowed Qatar and Saudi Arabia to invest heavily in European football through their respective ownership of the football clubs, PSG of Paris, France, and Newcastle United of England, despite the fact that both countries are heavily slammed for their purported human rights abuses.

So it seems that there’s more than meets the eye regarding its salient opposition of the FIFA deal it’s claiming its anger is all about because it’s unjust as the deal is backed by Joshua Kushner who is an in-law of the mercurial United States President, Donald Trump, so some are saying UEFA is actually angry not at the deal itself but its connection, directly or indirectly, to Donald Trump.

And its announced boycott of future World Cups has also made one thing further very obvious.

The purported outrage over the Kushner-Trump-FIFA deal is just a smokescreen for another very key issue.

The control of football!

UEFA believes it should have more sway over global football than FIFA.

And, since there can’t be two captains in a ship, that mentality was bound to lead to a clash, and it has indeed, albeit one cloaked with a different reason.

At the end of the day, though, it’s a very good thing for football if the two go their separate ways as football will benefit more thereby because there will be competition between them to outdo the other and football will see even more rapid global development thereby.
