UEFA v FIFA! There comes a time for the parting of the ways

In the very great story of Harry Potter, there came a time that there had to be a parting of the ways.

A time when the very wise Professor Albus Dumbledore realized that he and Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge and the Ministry of Magic inevitably had to part ways.

Maybe that time has come for FIFA and UEFA.

Because when two organizations who are supposed to be in tandem are bickering so much with one of them using suspicious professional reasons as cover for its actual personal grievances, then a parting of the ways might just be good for them.

And just like in the Harry Potter books that the parting of the ways eventually turned out to be a good thing for everyone, a parting of the ways between these two esteemed bodies will also be a good thing at the end of the day especially when you consider that sometimes things have to be broken in order to be built back even better.

As well, a parting of the ways will also settle once and for all the supremacy battle between them.

At every slight opportunity, UEFA threatens FIFA because it believes it has enormous clout so a parting of the ways will really help them both to determine which actually has the most power in football.

And when you throw into the equation that we’re now living in a very polarized world, it is quite understandable why the two are suddenly at each other’s throats more than previously.

Politics is also a great bone of contention between them.

Sadly for both, they can’t absolve themselves of being politically immune in their decisions so one accusing the other of political meddling is the proverbial case of the kettle calling the pot black.

And as to why I feel that UEFA not just threatening to boycott the next World Cup might not just blow up in the faces of its members, but actually do so, it’s because a parting of the ways will definitely lead to a good or negative outcome for it.

If it leads to a good one in which UEFA’s importance for world football is realized through its absence from the World Cup, then good for UEFA.

But what if it leads to the opposite outcome?

What if UEFA boycotting the World Cup actually makes the football world move on without it?

That would definitely be a blowback in its members’ faces.

And that is a very key point to consider because luckily for the world, the way God created it is that life keeps going on no matter the circumstances so UEFA pulling out of FIFA and boycotting the World Cup might not be such a terrible thing for the world as they are feeling to themselves that they are indispensable when life is not like that.

In fact, football, which has become life itself, will still end up being the winner as a UEFA boycott of FIFA will open new frontiers in football promotion and administration as the competition that will spring up thereby between UEFA and FIFA and maybe even other partnerships that will spring up will only be to football’s benefit.

And whilst FIFA is really trying its best for football, a monopolized market is never as good as an open market, so if a breakaway from FIFA by a partner like UEFA, leads to a very open football market, it’s definitely a win for football.

So, no matter how it plays out, this showdown between UEFA and FIFA, football will win because it is life itself.
